I have been working for Cambodian Volunteers for Community Development (CVCD) www.cvcd.org.kh for ten years. I started working as the teacher of English in the year 1998. At that time volunteered to teach in slum community called Tule Basac community now it was moved to AnLong Ka gnan(outside of Phnom Penh city about 15km) after it was on fired. In the year 2000 I was promoted to teach at the head office of CVCD. I had been working as the teacher for five years and I taught not only at CVCD but I taught at Cylco Center ( cyclo is a kind of transportation for Cambodia it has three wheels, the driver sits bihind the passegner and it can load three people. Then in the year 2005 I went to work in Koh Kong province, the island near to Thai border. There I worked as the interpretor for nurses who came to provide ARV( medicine for long life when people have Aids) and after working there for over six months I came back to CVCD to work as Project Manager until now.
I started study in a primary school at my hometown in year 1998 when i was eight year-old during schooling I could remember well about my family situation after the war. My mother and father didn’t have enough food to eat. They ate a little rice cook with taro’s branches or sometimes with banana root. After I took my study four five years I finished primary school.
My Junior high School
After my primary school I continued my junior high school but because of my secondary school was very from my home it was about 20km and I travel there on my foot and because of my uncle felt was so pity on me so accepted my mother suggestion to get me to continue schooling in Phnom Penh in 1993. However, because my mother was very poor I had to continue my studies in grade five in one primary school in Phnom Penh. Unluckily, I felt examinination in grade five and I didn’t lose any hopes I try to continue my studies in grade five again so my grade five total three years. Finally in year 1998 I past my exam to attend in secondary school. During my secondary from year to year it was getting difficult such as when I was in grade 7 my uncle move his house to outside of the town so it took me 2 hours with an old bike to go to school. One day I had bicycle accident and it made affraid to go back home because my uncle was so naughty particularly when he gets drunk, I asked for my friend house near my school for staying and eating with him for 7 days. In that year I decided to leave my uncle’s home to stay at my great aunt’s house for one year. Then in year 2001 I remember I was in grade 12 I decided to stay with my grade twelve classmate. I stayed with my friend for two years and in the year 2003 I moved to work for CVCD as a night guard. My time as a night guard was very good for me and I had very good time to improve my knowledge and experiences.
